Australian Ethical gets full marks for sustainability reporting
Canberra based funds manager, Australian Ethical Investment, has just received the highest possible rating for its 2007 Sustainability Report.
It is Australian Ethical’s sixth sustainability report prepared with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and the second based on the enhanced G3 GRI guidelines.
The newly released 2007 Sustainability Report achieved a GRI Application check of A+, the highest possible grading for a sustainability report. Australian Ethical is one of only five Australian companies to achieve the A+ grading.
Australian Ethical is one of the very select few small to medium enterprises around the world which can boast such a strong level and history of sustainability reporting. The other A+ grade sustainability reports were produced by four of Australia’s largest companies.
A highlight of Australian Ethical’s sustainability efforts in 2007 was the green fit out and refurbishment of its new premises in Bruce, ACT. The premises recently became just the third building in Australia to achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
The year also saw Australian Ethical make a record donation of $224 964 to charitable, benevolent and conservation organisations as part of its community grants scheme. This included a major grant worth $50 000 to The Australia Institute to produce educational materials on climate change for Australian high schools.
