Babcock & Brown Wind Partners listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2005 and has, as at 30 June 2007, interests in 34 wind energy assets across Europe, Australia and North America. Europe is the world’s most developed wind energy market, alone the two largest wind energy markets Spain and Germany account for 43.6% of global installed capacity, followed by the US with 15.7%. Australian wind farms make up 1% of global installed capacity. The expansion of wind power is seen as an important tool in the fight against greenhouse gas emissions and the depletion of non-renewable resources.
